Dogs enrich our lives in more ways than we can count. Here are just 10 of the top reasons we're thankful for dogs.

They’re our companions. Protectors. Motivators. Therapists. Kids (that’s right, kids. Not furbabies. We said it). Dogs enrich our lives in more ways than we can count; although 10 feels like a nice, solid number within which to sing their praises.

1. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: They don’t care about our bad hair days, bouts of social awkwardness or that we sometimes snort when we laugh. Dogs love us with no strings attached.

undefined

2. CONSTANT COMPANIONSHIP: Whether they’re a true working dog or simply a pro snuggler, dogs are always by our side — if they have anything to say about it. Their presence provides comfort and stability, especially when we’re feeling lonely or stressed.

undefined

3. ARMCHAIR PSYCHOLOGY SESSIONS: They may not have a diploma on the wall, but research shows that dogs are natural therapists, helping reduce anxiety and stress. Just petting a pup can lower blood pressure and improve mood.

undefined

4. EXERCISE PARTNERS: Dogs require regular exercise, which in turn, helps us get in our steps. Yep, even when it’s pouring outside.

undefined

5. A LESSON IN RESPONSIBILITY: From making sure they get a balanced diet to scheduling vet visits, parenting a dog teaches us responsibility, empathy and routine.

undefined

6. PROTECTION & SECURITY: Many dogs have a natural instinct to protect their home and loved ones. Even the small guys can prove adept at alerting us to strangers or unusual activity. Ok, especially the small guys.

undefined

7. ENDLESS ENTERTAINMENT: If social media has taught us anything, it’s that dogs are always good for a laugh. (We’re laughing with you, not at you, we promise).

undefined

8. EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: Dogs seem to have a sixth sense when we’re feeling down, and they’ll invariably sit with us, nuzzle us or offer other (quiet) forms of emotional support. Let’s just say our significant other can learn a thing or two from our pup.

undefined

9. A SENSE OF PURPOSE: Dogs create structure and routine in our lives. There’s a reason adoption rates spiked during COVID.

undefined

10. A BOND LIKE NO OTHER: Dogs understand our emotions, respond to our energy and share in the big and small moments of our lives. And for that, we’re eternally thankful.
