What do you mean by “gently cooked” dog food?
Each ingredient, from our proteins to our vegetables to our starches, is gently cooked separately to ensure that it maintains its optimal nutrient capacity and digestibility. There are no high temp vats or extrusion methods used. Just real, whole food ingredients thoughtfully prepared in small batches.
Who develops your dog food recipes?
Our recipes are formulated and scientifically evaluated for nutritional balance by board-certified veterinary nutritionists, who think about the nutritional needs of dogs and how they can be met at any given life stage.
What is a vet nutritionist?
A veterinary nutritionist is a veterinarian that’s specifically focused on clinical nutrition. Veterinary nutritionists have completed a residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and have passed a board examination along with other certifying requirements such as case reports and a peer reviewed publication.
What ingredients and nutrients do you use in your dog food?
We use only real, premium ingredients, prepared and packed in our own Nashville kitchen, along with a proprietary nutrient blend to ensure meals are complete and balanced. This blend was developed by board-certified veterinary nutritionists and a PhD-led veterinary science team, and includes Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B12, Iron, Iodine, Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Choline and Taurine. How is Nom Nom dog food prepared?
Every meat and veggie is gently cooked individually, then mixed in batches to seal in vital nutrients and maximize digestibility. That’s why the beef looks like beef and the peas look like peas (because they are).
Your Dog’s Needs
How do you calculate and personalize my dog’s portions?
We personalize your dog’s portions using details like age, weight, activity level, and body goals to estimate daily calorie needs. Meals are then pre-portioned for your dog, so serving is simple and consistent.
How do I please my picky eater?
We offer a variety of 6 vet-developed dog food recipes featuring different proteins and veggies so you can help your pup find their favorite. Here are a few more suggestions to help make them members of the clean bowl club!
Heat it up: Try running sealed Nom Nom meal packs under warm (not hot) water for a few minutes to release those yummy aromas.
Limit treats: Dogs are like kids…always trying to get dessert before dinner.
Make mealtime fun: Sometimes you’ve got to think beyond the bowl. Try serving their food inside of puzzles or lick mats to engage their brain and jumpstart their appetite.
How do I give my dog variety?
We’re all about offering variety to meet your dog’s nutritional needs AND suit their personal tastes. You can select multiple dog food recipes (from a choice of 6 recipes!) in each order, or automatically rotate between recipes in each delivery at no additional charge.
Is your dog food appropriate for dogs with certain medical issues?
We don’t currently offer prescription diets for dogs, but we’re happy to discuss your dog’s needs and work directly with our veterinary nutrition team to see if Nom Nom might be the right fit. We always recommend consulting with your own veterinarian as well, as they have your dog’s full medical history available and understand their specific needs best.

How much does it cost to serve my dog Nom Nom dog food?
Price depends on factors such as your dog’s age, weight and activity level. We also provide cost savings for less frequent deliveries and offer a multi-dog discount. Get your personalized quote here. How do dog food deliveries work?
We offer free shipping across the 48 contiguous states. Every order is prepared in our Nashville kitchen just days before arrival, and contains individually portioned meals made for your dog’s needs. We ship on a regular basis so your dog never runs out of their vet-developed, floor-licking delicious dog food.
How is Nom Nom dog food shipped and stored?
Nom Nom meals are packed cold with dry ice and/or gel packs and recyclable liners. They should arrive cold and be moved to the freezer after unboxing to help maintain freshness and safety.
Is your packaging environmentally friendly?
In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, our boxes, meal packs and premium insulating liners are all either recyclable or made from recycled materials, and are designed to keep your dog’s food, treats and/or probiotics in tip top shape during transit.
Can I reschedule orders or cancel my account?
You can reschedule orders or cancel your dog’s Nom Nom subscription in your account, by contacting us by email or by calling/texting (415) 991-0669.

If I buy Nom Nom from Chewy, PetSmart, or Amazon, is it the same food as the subscription meals?
Yes! The same recipes you know and trust are available through our retail partners. Every meal is made with the same healthy ingredients.
Do I need a Nom Nom subscription if I buy through a retailer?
No, you do not need a Nom Nom subscription if you buy our gently cooked dog food meals and treats through a retailer. If you’d like ongoing deliveries with personalized portions and perks, our subscription service is the best fit.
Is pricing the same in stores as it is through Nom Nom’s subscription?
Prices can vary a little between our retailers and our website.
What should I do if there’s an issue with my retail order?
If you ordered through Chewy, PetSmart, or Amazon, please start with their customer service team.
Can I customize my pet’s meals if I purchase through a retailer?
Retail packs come in standard sizes, so they don’t include customized portions. If you’re looking for a plan tailored to your pet’s unique needs, our subscription service is the way to go.
